Accredited Training Programs

The following training programs are accredited by the Local Governance Training and Research Institutes - Philippine Network (LoGoTRI-PhilNet). In 2003, the Local Government Academy of the Department of the Interior and Local Government facilitated the establishment of  LoGoTRI-PhilNet. It has since grown into a national network of resource institutions that promote excellence in local governance.


Participatory Local Planning, Budgeting, and Monitoring

Access to open data is just the first step in promoting participation in local governance. This training program aims to provide civil society representatives and local higher education institutions skills on how to engage in local planning, budgeting, and monitoring. In particular, the training shall focus on reading and analyzing local government documents such as financial statements and performance reports. This program can also be customized to meet the learning objectives of the private sector and local government units.


Monitoring and Evaluation to Improve Public Service Delivery to the Poor

This program aims to capacitate civil society organizations, people’s organizations, local government officials, and the academe to engage in joint monitoring of public service programs. The objective is to establish knowledge partnerships between these various stakeholder groups and to promote the use of universities as an infomediary. Participants will learn how to assess the progress and impact of local anti-poverty programs.


Strengthening Community Disaster Risk Reduction Management 

This training program seeks to develop the capacity of barangay leaders, civil society organizations, and people’s organizations in crafting community-based/ barangay disaster risk reduction and management plans and forming barangay DRRM councils. The training program shall provide participants with knowledge and skills to use disaster preparedness planning and monitoring tools such as hazard mapping, participatory vulnerability/ risk assessment, contingency planning, and stakeholder analysis.
